OUR CLASS WINS ANOTHER CERTIFICATE

Thanks to the hard work shown throughout the past months during our E-Twinning project entitled 'Sending Smiles', carried out with our friends from Greece and Spain, our class has been awarded a special certificate; the E-twinning Label. This is a special certificate awarded to those classes who participate in e-twinning projects and who show enthusiasm in the work they send to each other.
It is a certificate that is dedicated to all the students attending year4yellow during scholastic year 2009-10. Well done!

'Our Growing Together' Tree..

During the past week, in our class we have been working on a growing together tree. This activity was repeated during our Merit Day that took place last June 2nd, in our class.
Our college is the first college in Malta to introduce Merit Days because we believe that everybody has got something to offer. All children received a certificate marking a day that celebrates good practice amongst our students.

Strawberry picking

During Healthy week our class visited the Frott Artna fields in Mgarr. There we got lessons about growing crops. We learned about watermelons, beans, tomatoes, grapes and strawberries. We also had the chance to taste some of the fresh fruit. Before we left, we also visited a nearby farm. Some of us, were also lucky enough to hold some chickens or ducks in their hands. Unforgettable!

MINI-SURVEYS in our class reveal our tastes!

A few days we ago, we talked about tally charts in our Maths lesson. We learned that tally charts is all about reading information. Together we decided to do some mini-surveys in our class.

We were divided into four groups and each group was free to choose any topic!

Crayton, Janine, Aidan & Julia asked their friends about their favourite cartoon character. Results placed 'Tom & Jerry' first, with 'Bolt' coming second.

Therese, Sean, Kylie & Matthias looked for our favourite pets and concluded that the guinea pig is our most favourite. Next came the rabbit and the kitten!

According to Shania, Jake & Gabriel our favourite subject at school is Maths. Next came English Language.

Finally all children (together with some relatives and friends) participated in an online poll about our favourite season. Unsurprisingly, Summer got most votes! Results of this poll can be seen on the left hand side of this blog.

Well done kids! You can say you have done your first ever survey!

SENDING SMILES...to Spain & Greece

Our class is pleased to announce that a new project has just been set up with two European classes; one from Greece and another one from Spain. The Spanish class comes from the 'Lo Romero' Primary School in the city of St. Joan of Alicante while the Greek class comes from the Primary School of Panagiouda in the island of Lesvos. The project will help us practice the use of our English language, make new friends as well as learn about new cultures. Following the first set of letters, the project was also registered as an E-Twinning project. In fact, all 3 classes have already sent introductory letters to each other as well as general information on the school, the town and the country they come from. Work is currently underway to send Christmas related material.

Underneath are some of the letters we received from the Greek school, which were on exhibtion earlier this week.
Underneath is a photo of of our greek friends when they recently visited a fire brigade station.

November 6th: Our class visited the Catacombs of St. Agatha. These Catacombs are very old and for us it was an excellent opportunity to get a first-hand look at what we had been learning in Chapter 2 of our Religion Book. After visiting these ancient Catacombs, we had our lunch and then walked to the beautiful Howard Gardens in Rabat.

Thursday's Poem

Every Thursday you will find a new poem for you to enjoy reading. here's the second one for you. It's about a recipe; BUT be careful before you try it out....

RECIPE

First you take a giant bowl
and put a waffle in it,
then you add a bunch of jam
and stir it for a minute.

After that you get a cup
and fill it up with custard,
then dump it in with mushroom soup
and just a little mustard.

Squeeze a lemon right on top,
add peanut butter—oodles,
but don’t forget the applesauce
and two big scoops of noodles.

Then nuke it in the microwave.
That’s it, you’ve got a winner.
Get the plates out now and yell,
“Come and get it! Dinner!”
